SBNOV26, issued 2 Nov 2026. Sums from MAS’s technical specification for Savings Bonds. Interest is paid on the first business day of the month; a redemption asked for this month is paid by the second business day of next month.

Every rate is MAS’s, read twice every evening; the latest issue, next month’s estimate and who got what are on our Savings Bond tracker.

All the SSBs you hold

Add each Savings Bond you hold to see when its interest comes, how much room is left under the $200,000 limit, which bonds pay the least over the coming year, and whether switching to this month’s issue would pay. The list stays in your browser.

In multiples of $500.

Add the SSBs you hold, one at a time. They are kept in this browser only: nothing is sent to us.

    One every month

Some people put a set amount into each month’s issue. This shows what that would have earned at MAS’s actual rates, starting from any issue.

Each bond pays interest in the month it was issued and six months later, so six bonds in a row pay in every month of the year.

    SSB, T-bill or CPF OA

The same money over the same time, at today’s rates. A Savings Bond fixes its rates for 10 years and can be cashed in any month; a T-bill fixes its rate only until it matures; the CPF OA rate is set each quarter.

The Savings Bond’s rate is MAS’s average if held 2 years, and its interest is its own coupons. The T-bill and CPF rates are today’s; they can change after the period shown, so their interest assumes the same rate the whole time. T-bills are shown as the return on the cash paid.

    How the sums work

    • Interest: paid every 6 months, at half the year’s rate on the amount you hold. When a bond is issued after the 1st of the month, its first payment covers only the days from the issue date.
    • Redeeming early: you get your money back with the interest earned since the last payment, worked out by the day, less a $2 fee. There is no other penalty.
    • Average a year: MAS’s figure is the yearly return that makes everything the bond pays, held for that many years, worth what you put in. Ours, for any holding period, is the interest received ÷ amount ÷ years held.

MAS publishes, for every issue, the average return a year if held 1 to 10 years. Our sum reproduces 1340 of the 1340 figures for all 134 issues since 2015, and the check runs again every time MAS’s data is read. For payments we use MAS’s own formulas: on $10,000 of SBNOV26, issued on 2 Nov 2026, the first payment is $83.04, because it covers only part of the first six months (180 of 181 days of the first period).

    Questions people ask

How much interest will I get on $10,000 in a Savings Bond?

The calculator at the top starts at $10,000 in the latest issue and lists every payment to maturity. Pick a month under “Money back” to see what you would get if you redeemed early.

Only the $2 redemption fee. You get back the full amount you put in, with the interest earned up to the redemption date.

    Is Savings Bond interest taxed?

MAS states that Savings Bond interest is exempt from tax.

Is the list of bonds I hold sent to Numbers.sg?

No. It is kept in your own browser and in the page’s address if you copy it; we never receive it.
