The brands missing here
- Esso. Esso’s website turns away automated readers, so we can’t read its prices.
- Sinopec. Sinopec has no Singapore price page that we can find.
- Smart Energy and other independent stations: no price page we can read either.
The discounted prices the brands publish
Two brands also list a price after their own discount. Each has a condition, given here in the brand’s own words.
| Brand and grade | The brand’s condition | A litre | Off the listed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shell 95 | Nett price with Shell GO+ loyalty and UOB One Credit Card | $2.99 | 17% |
| Caltex 95 | After Caltex’s site discount | $3.42 | 5% |

| Caltex Diesel | After Caltex’s site discount | $3.867 | 5% |
In each brand’s own words, from the pages linked above. Shell’s footnotes give its conditions: a 17% instant discount with a UOB One card (14% with other UOB cards or a Citibank card), with GO+ loyalty points earned on top. SAFRA and HomeTeamNS members get a further 2% (up to 19%), and drivers in Shell’s private-hire scheme get 22% paying by cash or NETS, or 24% with a UOB One card. Shell also lists a lower price with an app voucher that has its own cap and end date; we leave that out. See Shell’s price board. Bank card discounts at the other brands are not shown.

What your fill-up costs at each brand
Put in the litres, or a month of driving, and see the cost at each brand’s listed price and at the lowest discounted price the brand itself publishes.
What is in a litre: duty, GST and the rest
Every litre carries a fixed excise duty set by the government, and GST on the whole price. The rest is the fuel, its delivery and the station.
| Grade | Lowest listed | Duty | GST | The rest | Tax share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 92 | $3.54 | $0.66 | $0.29 | $2.59 | 27% |
| 95 | $3.56 | $0.66 | $0.29 | $2.61 | 27% |
| 98 | $4.08 | $0.79 | $0.34 | $2.95 | 28% |
| Diesel | $4.00 | $0.20 | $0.33 | $3.47 | 13% |
Duty: Singapore Customs, List of Dutiable Goods (12 Feb 2026): $0.66 a litre on petrol of RON 90 to below 97 (92 and 95), $0.79 on RON 97 and above (98), $0.20 on automotive diesel. GST: 9% of the pump price, which includes the duty (IRAS), so it is 9/109 of what you pay. “The rest” is the fuel itself, shipping, refining, the station and the brand’s margin; the brands don’t publish how it splits. Premium grades are left out: their duty depends on octane, which not every brand states.

The price changes on record
The new listed price and the change from the one before, by the date the brand gave. Before 27 Oct 2026 these come from Internet Archive copies of each brand’s page. Those copies are not daily, so changes between two copies may be missing, and where two copies are more than 45 days apart we don’t list the difference as a change.

Diesel prices in Singapore
Diesel is listed at $4.00 to $4.07 a litre (Shell $4.07, Caltex $4.07, SPC $4.00), before discounts. That is $0.44 a litre more than the lowest 95 petrol. Diesel duty is $0.20 a litre against $0.66 for 92 and 95 petrol (Singapore Customs). SingStat publishes no average for diesel, so there is no “what drivers paid” figure for it.
Common mistakes about petrol prices
- “The pump price is what everyone pays.” Few do. SingStat’s average, which counts the station and loyalty discounts widely available to drivers, has been well below the listed prices: the cards above show both for the same grade.
- “The brands always charge the same.” Often close, but not the same: the table shows today’s gap for each grade.
- “Most of the price is tax.” Not in Singapore at today’s prices. Duty is a fixed amount a litre and GST is 9/109 of the price; together they are 27% of the lowest listed price of 95 today. The table above has each grade.
- “98 is always worth it.” It costs more for every litre. Whether your car needs it is in its handbook; this page doesn’t judge that.
From the brands’ price pages, SingStat, Singapore Customs and IRAS, linked in each section; the shares are this page’s, worked out from them.
Questions people ask
What is the petrol price in Singapore today?
Of the brands whose prices we can read, the lowest listed for 95 petrol is $3.56 a litre (SPC), up to $3.60 (Shell and Caltex); 98 from $4.08; diesel from $4.00. These are each brand’s own prices before discounts, as last updated by the brand. SingStat’s average for September 2026, after the discounts widely available to drivers, was $2.92 for 95.
Which brand has the cheapest petrol?
By listed price, the ✓ in the table above marks the lowest for each grade among Shell, Caltex and SPC, and it changes with each brand’s updates. What you pay also depends on your card and loyalty programme: Shell and Caltex publish their own discounted prices, shown under the table. Esso and Sinopec don’t publish prices we can read.
How often do petrol prices change in Singapore?
Each brand sets its own prices and updates its own page when it changes them; we read Caltex’s and SPC’s pages four times a day and Shell’s twice. Every change we have on record is in the history above, with the brand’s own date.
How much petrol duty is there in a litre?
$0.66 a litre for 92 and 95 petrol (RON 90 to below 97), $0.79 for 98 (RON 97 and above) and $0.20 for diesel, in Singapore Customs’ list of dutiable goods. GST of 9% is charged on the pump price, duty included. (Singapore Customs)
Why is SingStat’s petrol price lower than the pump price?
SingStat’s average retail prices include “onsite and loyalty discounts that are widely available to consumers”, in its own words. The pump price is before any discount. (SingStat)
Why aren’t Esso and Sinopec here?
Esso’s website turns away automated readers, and Sinopec has no Singapore price page we can find, so we can’t show their prices with a source and a time. We check every three months whether that has changed.
How we get these prices
- A job reads the price pages Shell, Caltex and SPC publish for motorists: Caltex’s and SPC’s four times a day (8:15 am, 12:15, 4:15 and 8:15 pm), Shell’s twice (10 am and 5 pm), with the time each brand says it last updated them. A price is refused if it is outside $1 to $6 a litre or moves more than 25% from the brand’s update before it, within 45 days; the page then keeps the last good read and says when it was. If a brand hasn’t updated its page for three weeks, the job flags it.
- The history is from the same pages: our reads since 27 Oct 2026, and before that the copies the Internet Archive saved (Shell’s from January 2020, Caltex’s from November 2025 and SPC’s from December 2015): 91 dated price lists in all. The average is SingStat’s.
- Duty is from Singapore Customs’ list of dutiable goods and GST from IRAS, read on 27 Oct 2026 and re-read on our update schedule.
- We show each brand’s prices as facts, with the brand named and its page linked; Numbers.sg is not connected to any of them, no brand pays us, and this page has no affiliate links. The calculator runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere. See our disclaimer, how we get our numbers and corrections.
